ExxonMobil Exploration Workshop: The Hunt for Hydrocarbons

Join ExxonMobil geoscientists to discover how your knowledge and skills can be utilised in petroleum exploration and low carbon applications. In this four hour workshop together we will discuss geoscience exploration methods and techniques used to identify subsurface opportunities, and enable you to apply your skills to hydrocarbon exploration. You’ll have the opportunity to work with industry data, learn how your fundamental skills are vital to sustainable energy supply and the evolving energy transition and speak with ExxonMobil employees about careers in the energy sector.

Dr. Rachel Hunter
Exploration Geoscientist
ExxonMobil

Dr. Rachael Hunter is a geoscientist working within the East Mediterranean Operations team. She joined the company in 2019 and has a strong foundation in structural geology, quantitative seismic interpretation, petroleum systems analysis and geophysics developed through her prior academic studies (BSc, MSc, PhD). Her doctoral thesis explored the role of structural inheritance in basin evolution within the Northern North Sea Basin with focus upon the consequent implications for petroleum systems development.

Mr. Edward Penrose
Senior Geophysicist – Upstream Operation and New Opportunities
ExxonMobil

Mr. Edward Penrose is a geophysicist in the East Mediterranean Operations team with 14 years industry experience after graduating from the University of Leeds. His experience includes Exploration projects in East Africa, the Black Sea, and West Siberia. He has a broad interest in geophysical applications, but specializes in seismic rock physics, DHI (Direct Hydrocarbon Indicators) analysis, and quantitative interpretation (IQI). Edward is regarded as a corporate expert on DHI analysis and IQI.

Dr. Edward Habgood
Technical Team Lead
ExxonMobil

Dr. Edward Habgood (PhD, National Oceanography Centre) is the Geoscience Technical Team Lead for Egypt and has 20 years of experience with ExxonMobil. Edward has worked across the upstream from frontier exploration to greenfield, brownfield and late life production infill drilling. Interesting assignments include, Deepwater exploration across both West and East Africa, Angola Blk 15 development, Mozambique Area 4, North Sea late life re-development and production. Edward has developed a reputation for working complex technical projects and building relationships with stakeholders and resource owners.
